On April 14th, 2022, the mod was officially cancelled as the Mod author ThoMysteriousY announced on Reddit to be quitting the project. The Walking Doki Literature Club's first chapter was released on February 5th, 2022. Unlike most other mods, manual saving is disabled instead the game is saved in the selected save file at certain points. If the player fails a QTE, it can result in death of MC or another key character, requiring the player to retry the event. The mod also features quick time events (QTEs), in which, the player must follow on-screen prompts to keep themselves or other characters alive. It features choice notification, in which the mod's interface indicates that a character has changed their disposition towards the MC as a result of these choices. Some choices will also have an effect on the attitude of the non-player characters towards the main character, and may also affect their fate as well. Similar to Telltale Games' Walking Dead, there are some parts of the mod require timed responses from the player, often leading to significant decisions that may impact the game's story. Walking Doki introduces some new characters and features which weren't in the original game. It is inspired by the Telltale Games' Walking Dead video game. As it turns out, this includes a lot of depressive and intrusive thoughts, from Sayori thinking that the protagonist “really seeing me” to Sayori ruminating on the other girls around her.The Walking Doki Literature Club is an episodic horror apocalyptic mod developed by MystyTom, aka ThoMysteriousY. “Doki Doki! RainClouds” rewrites the game so Sayori’s thoughts and dialogue appear, adding further depth to her personality. So instead of experiencing the game through the protagonist’s perspective, Redditor paulchartres is creating a mod that lets the player experience the game’s opening section from Sayori’s point of view. ![]() This culminates in her confessing her distressing thoughts to the player character and–in one of the game’s most disturbing scenes–eventually committing suicide. But as the game progresses, Sayori shows outward signs of severe depression.
